Utah Highway Patrol trooper injured in collision on I-215

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — A Utah Highway Patrol trooper was injured Sunday when another vehicle crashed into his SUV on I-215’s westside belt.
The sergeant sat in his vehicle while investigating an abandoned vehicle on I-215 southbound near 2800 South, when another vehicle struck the sergeant’s SUV from behind. The impact was strong enough to completely crumple the rear portion of the SUV.
Utah state trooper injured, no word on cause of crash
Both the trooper and the occupants of the other vehicle went to area hospitals for treatment, though Utah Highway Patrol said the trooper should make a full recovery.
UHP did not provide details about the injuries to the other vehicle’s occupants.
West Valley City police will investigate the crash. They did not say whether anyone could face charges in the accident, nor did they specify a possible cause.
