SALT LAKE CITY — When the mercury hit 100 degrees at Salt Lake City International Airport this afternoon, it put us within reach of tying a triple-digit heat record for the number of 100+ degree days in a single year.
So far in 2021, today makes 19 days of triple-digit heat. The record, 21 days, was set back in 1994. Well, technically, 1994 tied the record set in 1960. Either way, 21 marks a record. And it’ll only take two more days to get us there.
By the way, our average number of days above 100 degrees is just 4. Doesn’t that sound nice right about now?
