Gov. Cox sets Nov. 9 as date for special session

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Gov. Spencer Cox has set Nov. 9, 2021, for a special session of the Utah Legislature.

In a proclamation, Gov. Cox indicated that some of the topics to be discussed by lawmakers will include:

• updated Congressional, legislative, and other district boundaries,
• a proposal to change the name of Dixie State University,
• proposed changes to pretrial processes related to bail and pretrial release, and
• provisions related to COVID-19 and the workplace.

Utah Senate President Stuart Adams and House Speaker Brad Wilson have both signaled that lawmakers would be taking action against President Biden’s vaccine requirements for larger businesses.
