House Republicans hold off on vote that could overturn mask order

SALT LAKE CITY — House Republicans say they will not take up the resolution Wednesday that will end Salt Lake County’s mask mandate. They still want to discuss the issue further.
KSL NewsRadio’s Lindsay Aerts received information about a new development in the legislature.
The House of Representatives Majority Caucus seem to be in agreement. They widely agree mask mandates aren’t the answer. However, the House won’t vote on the joint resolution on mask mandates Wednesday.

Sen. Dan McCay, R-Riverton, filed the resolution in the Senate to terminate the public health order issued by the Salt Lake County Health Department last week.
On Tuesday, the first day of the 2022 Legislative Session, Senators voted to overturn the mask order, sending the joint resolution to the House for consideration.
The new decision in the house to vote later on the joint resolution is the latest in a days-long saga over the Salt Lake County Health Department’s mask order.
