SALT LAKE CITY — Comedian Ryan Hamilton announced changes to his upcoming shows after recently being hit by a bus.

In a Facebook posting, Hamilton said that he was hit by a shuttle bus as he walked in a crosswalk.

Hamilton said he suffered a broken arm which required surgery, seven broken ribs and a punctured, collapsed lung. In his posting, Hamilton said he can’t fly until his doctor approves.

The BYU graduate is recovering at a family home in Idaho.

“I’m also grateful for my fans,” Hamilton wrote on Facebook. “I understand you may be disappointed, as I am, especially regarding Salt Lake City this weekend. I know you may have had tickets for close to two years and made plans that are difficult to change.

“Please know this is a huge blow to me, and I am very sorry for the effects it will have on all of you.”

Hamilton closed his post by saying that he is looking forward to getting back as soon as possible to provide a show that his fans deserve.

Early life of Ryan Hamilton

Hamilton was born and raised in Ashton, Idaho. He attended BYU-Idaho where he received an associate degree in journalism and public relations. He then transferred to BYU and earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations.

Hamilton got his start in stand-up comedy performing at clubs in Salt Lake City. He also performed in Seattle and Boston. He considers all three cities to be his “comedy homes.”

His first one-hour special, Happy Face, debuted on Netflix in August 2017.

Most recently, Hamilton opened for Jerry Seinfeld on his 2019 Live Tour.
