HOLLADAY, Utah — It’s one of the largest burglary rings the Unified Police Department has seen in a very long time.  Police say hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of stolen goods have been recovered from a massive burglary ring. And they want anyone who has been burglarized, recently, to call them.

Massive burglary ring

This started as an investigation into burglaries at the Station Condominium Complex in Holladay for several weeks.  Unified Police Deputy Chief Justin Hoyal says their investigation led them to a home in West Jordan and two storage units where they found loads of stolen items.

“We have items ranging from bicycles, we recovered a stolen motorcycle, electronic scooters to power tools, sports memorabilia and firearms,” he said.

While searching, officers realized this burglary ring was much larger than they anticipated.  They reportedly found guns, rare coins, snowboards and other athletic equipment.  Officers also seized collectible items like comic books, vinyl records, a Muhammad Ali poster and a Cabbage Patch Kid still in the box.  Plus, they found a mobile dental x-ray device and an orthodontist’s laser from the massive burglary ring.

Hundreds of victims

According to Hoyal, if you’ve been the victim of a burglary in the past few months, there’s a chance your goods have been recovered.  They estimate there are hundreds of victims from all over Salt Lake County.

He said, “These are all ranging from cases not only in the condo complex in Holladay, but we believe that there are residential burglaries, vehicle burglaries and storage unit burglaries that this is all connected to.”

How big was this burglary ring?

Investigators are still trying to determine how large this burglary ring was. They’re convinced no one could have stolen this many items by themselves.  Hoyal says they’re searching for anyone who may have been involved. However, they do have a prime suspect who is still on the run.

“As we served a search warrant on his home on Monday, he fled from officers in a stolen vehicle,” Hoyal said.

Anyone who wants to know if their stolen goods were recovered should call UPD at 385-468-9920.  However, Hoyal says there is still a lot of evidence they haven’t had time to process.

He said, “This is going to be something that is going to take detectives weeks to go through.”
