Got seeds? You can get them at several County Library branches

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake County Library will offer free packets of seeds in several branches, beginning in March.

The seed packets will include non-GMO heirloom herb, vegetable, fruit, and flower seeds. If successfully harvested, they can provide tomatoes, peas, lettuce, radishes, squash, and more, the library said.

The seed packets will be offered at the Draper, Holladay, Kearns, and Millcreek branches of the Salt Lake County Library.

“We’re extremely excited to expand our Seeds Library so more people can enjoy the process and rewards associated with gardening,” said Librarian Christopher Bray.

“It’s such an enriching experience for people of all ages.”

An interesting part of this program is what librarians hope will happen after the vegetables are harvested. The County Library said it hopes people who took advantage of the free seeds will return fresh seeds to the library to be repacked and redistributed.

The seed packets will be available through April while supplies last. More information is available here.
