Democratic Party Chair Eva Lopez on caucuses returning to in-person

SALT LAKE CITY – After four years, Democrat caucuses in Utah are back to in-person meetings. And on Tuesday, these meetings took place statewide with the purpose of electing delegates, precinct chairs, vice chairs, and other positions.
Speaking on KSL NewsRadio At Night, Salt Lake County Democratic Party Chair Eva Lopez referred to the people in these positions as “super volunteers.”
Once elected for a position, the next step is training to aid in coordinating or volunteering for campaigns. Besides election processes, these meetings also address budgets, subcommittees and encourage the free-flow of ideas.
The overarching mission for these caucuses is to promote the growth of the Democratic Party in Utah.
“We have so much at risk in the coming years looking at the presidential election in the future,” Lopez said, “and also dealing with the repercussion of redistricting.”
She invited Democrats to get involved, and said that despite being outnumbered nearly 4-to-1 in Utah, those representing the Democratic Party are still seeking balanced government.
