ST. GEORGE, Utah — The Bureau of Land Management announced an advanced reservation option for the Virgin River Campground. The online reservation tool will take effect on May 1, 2022.

“The recent uptick in visitors to public lands has made obtaining a campsite at popular recreation areas like these more challenging,” said Lorraine Christian, BLM Arizona Strip District field manager.

The Virgin River Recreation Area is located in Littlefield, Arizona, 20 miles southwest of St. George, Utah.

Advanced reservations will be available for some campsites in the area. Reservable sites will be available for both the upper and lower loops of the campground.

Reserving a Virgin River Campground site

The upper loop will include 18 reservable multi-day sites. Once available, visitors can secure a reservation with an online payment. 54 first-come, first-serve sites will also be available on the upper loop.

Visitors wanting to reserve a site on the lower loop will also need to go through the online system.

Day use on the lower loop will still be available, as well as one-night stay sites.

The online reservation system will go into effect on May 1 and will be available for anyone looking to reserve a site for camping on, or after June 1.

The campsites include drinking water, flush toilets, and parking, according to the BLM. Some sites may also have grills and picnic tables.

More about the campground can be found on the BLM’s website.
