The American Legion Auxiliary Utah Girls State to be held this June

SALT LAKE CITY — The American Legion Auxilary (ALA) serves veterans, the military, and their families through volunteers. The mission of ALA is to improve the quality of life for the veterans of our nation. Every spring, around 25000 young women across the county are selected to attend ALA Girls State programs in their respective states. This year, ALA Utah Girls State will commence June 6-10, 2022, at Weber State University in Ogden.
What is ALA Utah Girls State
This week-long program teaches girls about the inner workings of our government at the city, county, state, and national levels. Furthermore, girls create and run a state of their own to gain a deeper understanding of our nation. Additionally, young women learn responsible citizenship and a deep appreciation of our nation, according to Weber State University.
“This unique program, sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, inspires volunteerism, responsible citizenship, and sincere appreciation for the constitutional legacy and institutions of our great nation. It offers you opportunities to meet community leaders and public officials and create new friendships with students throughout Utah,” said former Governor Gary R. Herbert.
Also, upon completion of the program, attendees receive their ALA Girls State GraduationCertificate and 3 PoliSci 2920 credits from WSU.
