SOUTH JORDAN, Utah — One of the two children injured in a South Jordan auto-pedestrian collision Wednesday has died. Both children were 9 years old, and the second remains in stable but serious condition.

The South Jordan Police Department announced Thursday that one of the children had passed away.

A family spokesman tells KSL NewsRadio’s Lindsay Aerts the child who passed away has been identified as Brayden Long. The spokesman also says Brayden is the youngest of three siblings. His older brother, Marco, died unexpectedly in March.

South Jordan emergency personnel also tell KSL NewsRadio the other “little guy is still fighting for his life.”

The collision happened Wednesday morning near 2100 West 11400 South. The two children were on an electric bike at the time of the collision.

The SJPD said the driver, a 44-year-old woman, stayed on the scene and was cooperating with investigators.

Officials said they did not suspect impairment was a factor in the collision.

South Jordan Mayor Dawn Ramsey offered her condolences to the families involved saying “We are heartbroken to learn that a child in our community has passed away today.” Ramsey added, “I offer my heartfelt condolences to the families impacted by this loss and truly tragic accident.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up for the family to help with funeral expenses.

KSL NewsRadio’s Lindsay Aerts took the photo below of a memorial left near the scene of the accident.
