Former Bingham High coach accused of sexually abusing a minor

SALT LAKE CITY — Police said that former Bingham High wrestling coach Anthony Jordan Wanlass exchanged multiple nude pictures with a 17-year-old girl during the 2021-2022 school year. He is facing six felony charges, including one charge of forcible sexual abuse.
Wanlass was the wrestling coach at Bingham High School during the same year. He is alleged to have shared photos with the teenage girl using Snapchat. He is also accused of kissing and exposing himself to the girl.
The chats began sometime in October of 2021.
According to police documents, Assistant Principal Rodney Shaw met with Wanlass after students told the principal Wanlass was having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
At that point, police said Wanlass was suspended and escorted to his vehicle.
The Salt Lake County District Attorney filed six charges against Wanlass including one count of forcible sexual abuse of a minor and five counts of dealing harmful material to a minor.
