SALT LAKE CITY — Over Labor Day weekend, the elevator, on the west end of the Legacy Bridge at the University of Utah was vandalized. Currently, it is out of service and crews are assessing the damage.
The university said in a release the Legacy Bridge remains open and accessible.
A spokesperson with the university said that no physical graffiti was found, so they are looking into technical issues with the elevator.
Furthermore, the university said that bikers and scooters should use the west side stair runnels to push their device up or down the stairs. Runnels are grooved guides for wheels, next to the stairway leading to the bridge.
Also, the university wants to remind users of the bridge that riding on the stairs is not allowed. And is in violation of University Policy.
Furthermore, ADA accommodations are available by requesting a SafeRide through the TransLoc mobile app. Download the app, select ‘University of Utah’ and specify the need for ADA accommodations.
The on-demand Campus Shuttle is also reachable at 801-213-3432.
