SALT LAKE CITY — Two earthquakes shook the Beehive State on Monday, September 19, one north of the Great Salt Lake, the other about 30 miles from Saint George.

Earthquake north of the Great Salt Lake

The first earthquake was recorded in Utah at around 10:05 a.m. MST. The earthquake’s location was on the north side of the Great Salt Lake, about five miles from the town of Corinne, UT. 
Furthermore, the magnitude was reported at 2.9, and its depth reached about three miles.

No one reported feeling the earthquake, and there have been no reports of property damage or injury.

4.4 magnitude earthquake near Saint George

The United States Geological Survey reported a 4.4 magnitude earthquake struck about 30 miles south of St. George, Utah.

The quake registered at 3:18 p.m., MST. 

“[I was] sitting at my desk, and the floor just started to move underneath me,” said Tiffany Mitchell with St. George Police. “It was really brief.”

At the time of publication, KSL NewsRadio had not received any reports of property damage or injury.
