Latest snow on Utah roads prompts police to encourage safe driving

SALT LAKE CITY — More snow means more problems on Utah roads. Monday’s storm could make the drive home a headache, so police are asking driving to stay safe on the roads.
Police urged safe driving practices regardless of how much snow comes down on Monday.
Sgt. Mark Wian with the Salt Lake City Police Department said first things first, slow down and increase the distance between you and the next car.
Wian said any amount of rain or snow can cause problems so even if you’re doing your part, watch out for the unexpected.
“We do have the speed limits but clearly, with any kind of inclement weather, driving under that speed limit is going to be the best approach to making sure that you get to where you’re going in a safe way.”
Wian said that if you do get into a minor crash, check on people in both cars and don’t hesitate to 911.
Wian also advised that officers will be in high demand because of the storm, so if you’re comfortable, try to move out of the road and exchange information privately after a minor crash.
