Motorcyclist in hospital with serious injuries after crashing into truck

ROY CITY, Utah — A motorcyclist is in the hospital with serious injuries after striking the back end of a truck Saturday.
Stuart Hackworth with the Roy City Police Department says the incident occurred at 4000 S. and Midland Drive in Roy.
The motorcycle was heading northbound when the truck, heading southbound, turned left onto 4000 S. Hackworth says the truck turned in front of the motorcycle, causing it to hit the back end of the vehicle.
Along with this, he says the motorcycle hit the truck with such force that its tailgate came off. Additionally, the truck was hauling a refrigerator. It was thrown about 30 feet following the impact, Hackworth reports.
Hackworth says the motorcyclist was taken to an area hospital, sustaining a few serious injuries. These include two broken arms and a broken femur. Doctors say he is alive thanks to his helmet, Hackford says.
The driver of the truck received a citation for failing to yield at a left turn. Hackworth did not report that she received any injuries.
