Authorities close case on murders of Kylen Schulte and Crystal Turner

MOAB, Utah — The Grand County Sheriff’s Office release its findings on the 2021 murders of married couple Kylen Schulte and Crystal Turner. Authorities said the case was closed after outlining the evidence against the late Adam Pinkusiewicz.
The sheriff’s office and the Unified Police Department presented the findings, going over evidence, timelines and information obtained through interviews.
Pinkusiewicz was identified as a suspect in the case in May. He worked at the same McDonald’s that Turner did.
UPD Detective Carrie Rigby said Pinkusiewicz’s significant other told police that Pinkusiewicz had told him about the murders. The significant other confirmed information that had not been released to the public, like the fact that the women were killed in their tent and then moved outside.
Rigby said Pinkusiewicz’s partner had been eliminated as a suspect in the case and said he wasn’t in Utah at the time of the crime.
Schulte and Turner were killed in 2021. Schulte was 24 and Turner was 38.
Rigby said the police found that the couple was murdered at 11:28 a.m. on August 14.
Pinkusiewicz did not return to work after the murders and did not respond to law enforcement’s efforts to make contact with him.
Pinkusiewicz later died by suicide on September 24, 2021.
Rigby said that if Pinkusiewicz was still alive, police would have enough to warrant an arrest. Because of his death, the case is now closed. But, Rigby said, if any other information comes to light it could be revisited.
