SALT LAKE CITY — On the heels of one of Utah’s biggest winter storms, the Wasatch Front is in for another storm Monday through Wednesday.

Nicole DeSmet, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, told KSL NewsRadio the brunt of the storm would hit the Ogden Valley going north to the Idaho border.

DeSmet said the Ogden Valley could get 2 to 5 inches by Tuesday and an additional 1 to 3 inches by Wednesday.

Meteorologists expect that Salt Lake and Utah Counties will only get an inch to 3 inches by Tuesday.

The storm will hit the mountains harder than anywhere else.

DeSmet said as of early-Monday morning, many areas in the Wasatch and Uintah Mountains already saw a foot of fresh powder. And those areas could get another foot or two when all is said and done Wednesday.

Meteorologists expect this storm to bring more cold weather with it.

DeSmet said temperatures will especially be frigid on Thursday and Saturday, with some areas feeling like 0 to 10 degrees.

While the storm is not expected to impact rush hour nearly as much as last week, DeSmet said the storm will continue to affect Monday night and Tuesday morning commutes.

How do locals feel about all this snow?

Many people are probably tired of having to take extra time to scrape off the car and take it slow on the roads but, a lot of Utahns seem giddy about this weather.

“It hasn’t been too bad, the plows have been really great,” said Kevin Crockett. “It’s nice to get all the snow.”

“I’m grateful for the snow…we needed it,” said Stephanie George of Marriott-Slaterville. “In thirty years I’ve never remembered a winter like this.”

“We’ve got to have it (the water),” said Taren Jackson. “As hard as it is…our economy would’ve really struggled this year without the water and the snow.”
