Blue Moon Bar and Grill collapses in Lava Hot Springs

LAVA HOT SPRINGS, Idaho — Deputies saved two people after the Blue Moon Bar and Grill in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho collapsed on Wednesday afternoon.
The original emergency call came from a trapped occupant of the building around 3:45 p.m. The building, located at 89 S. 1st Avenue East, is in accessible to the public. Deputies with the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office are monitoring the area to ensure the safety of the public.
The Bannock County Sheriff’s Office has closed Elm Street and 1st Avenue East due to debris, according to a news release. The release also stated the roads would likely be closed through the night.
Once deputies arrived, they rescued two trapped occupants. One of which was a woman who was transported to the Portneuf Medical Center by ambulance for minor injuries.
A public information officer said apartments adjacent to the building were evacuated. Individuals in the adjacent building have found a place to stay for the night, according to law enforcement.
No additional injuries have been reported.
Police are asking people to avoid the area until further notice.
