“Teacher Brian is my daughter’s Pre school teacher at Head Start in Ogden Utah. This year I’ve Lost My husband and My daughter lost a father and has been extremely sad and would t talk to anyone and barley would eat. Teacher Brian started halfway thru the school year and Head start was his first teaching job. So as you can imagine Brian Being a New Teacher halfway through the year not knowing the students as well as being a Male teacher had to be difficult for him. Before Brian even stepped into the classroom we met him at OWCAP there is a Wednesday night group called Circles. Brian was in charge of the children and the activities. Parents and children show up to a dinner and then after parents and kids split up and parents go to groups and the children stayed with Brian. This man had over 20 plus children weekly and he made time for each and everyone on a personal level and maintained control for over 4 hours every week for months. He then started teaching my daughter’s class where remember she’s still not talking or playing or anything. One day I picked her up she came running to me and said mommy mommy guess what ,what dear she said Im not sad about daddy anymore and I said what do you mean she said that Teacher Brian is my new Teacher and he Helped me make something very special to Remember daddy and if I get sad I just have to get this out and she showed me a art project that Teacher Brian had thought of it was a Heart Shaped paper with a Drawn picture of her dad and her holding hands and a halo over her father’s head I broke down in tears and my daughter said mommy don’t be sad look daddy’s right here and Teacher Brian loves me to so I’m not scared or sad anymore. So I approached Brian whipping my tears and this great man asked if he could hug me and I said yes and thanked him and he told me that he wi be there for myself and daughter noatter what time or what the issue is. Fast forward til now my daughter has excelled in every aspect of school and Brian has been a huge part of it he has gone above and beyond his calling as a teacher and has truly made a difference for a 4 year old girl and a widow. So please if anyone deserves this it’s Teacher Brian Broadbent. P.s I have a parent group that has a handful of amazing stories about this Teacher none as personal as mine but great in different ways he has a gift and we will never forget him and his lessons and example of not just a great teacher But a great example and Person. Thanks so Much Monica Martinez”
