HEBER CITY, Utah — Heber City police said they detained two juveniles Thursday morning after a high-speed chase.

According to a press release from Heber City Police, officers tried to pull over a white Dodge Challenger near 500 N. Main Street in Heber City just before 9 a.m.

An initial records check found that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Spanish Fork and had an expired registration.

The vehicle was also involved in a chase with deputies from the Utah County Sheriff’s office.

Soon after they had that information, police said the vehicle fled westbound on Highway 40 toward Jordanelle State Park.

The driver left Highway 40 at Exit 8 and continued to evade police. The chase continued as the driver returned to Highway 40 and headed eastbound toward Heber City.

At this point, according to the release, the pursuit speeds reached 140 mph and multiple agencies joined in.

Spike strips were successfully deployed on the driver’s side, according to the release. Eventually, the vehicle came to a stop near milepost 40 on Highway 40.

The two juveniles were taken into custody and booked into juvenile detention where they face multiple charges.
