SALT LAKE CITY — As cold temperatures set in, Nivis Gear will be helping some Utahns stay warm this winter. The Richmond, Virginia-based company gifted nearly 1,400 ski jackets to four Utah organizations.

In a press release, Nivis announced staff at the Alf Engen Museum in Park City and Utah Olympic Park were among the recipients. The Salt Lake City VA and a “local homeless youth Rotary Project” also received the coats.

Connie Nelson, the Alf Engen Museum Foundation executive director expressed gratitude for Nivis Gear’s gift. “We are so grateful to the Nivis team for their generous donation of ski jackets to our museum and Utah Olympic Park teams,” Nelson said in the press release.

The gift equated to over $250,000 in Nivis Gear.

Nivis Gear gives back

In addition to the ski jackets, Nivis donates 1% of its revenue to nonprofits that work to support veterans. According to the press release, “After learning the history of skiing in the U.S. at the Alf Engen Museum and the critical influence veterans had on modern ski culture, Nivis now donates 1% of its revenue to nonprofits who support veterans.”

Additionally, the company is part of One Percent for the Planet. It gives 1% of its sales revenue to support sustainability and environmental protection efforts. Nivis Gear is one of the few ski-focused outerwear companies that fully assemble its products in the United States, according to the press release.

“Their passion and commitment to creating quality products is only rivaled by their dedication to giving back, and we are proud to partner with an organization so invested in supporting our local community,” Nelson said.
