UDOT issues temporary canyon road closures

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Transportation has issued temporary road closures to canyon roads along the Wasatch Front starting Saturday evening due to avalanche danger.

In anticipation of avalanche danger, we are closing the following mountain routes tonight. 🧵

⚠️ US-189 (Provo Canyon): will close at 10 pm on 1/13/24 until 12 pm (noon) on 1/14/24.

⚠️ SR-92 (American Fork Canyon): will close at 8 pm on 1/13/24 until 2 pm on 1/14/24. pic.twitter.com/cZBIwEu9PV

⚠️ SR-92 (Alpine Loop/Provo Canyon adjacent): will close from 10 pm on 1/13/24 until 8 am on 1/14/24.

⚠️ US-89 (Logan Canyon): will close at 8 pm on 1/13/24 until 9 am on 1/14/24.

⚠️ SR-190 (Big Cottonwood Canyon): will close at 11 pm on 1/13/24 until 8 am on 1/14/24.

UDOT says that the goal with these closures is to help keep people safe and that although crews are doing everything they can, conditions will potentially be too dangerous for drivers.
