SALT LAKE CITY — The rain and snow that the state saw this weekend will stick around for most of the week, before making a comeback nearer to Easter.

Utah will start with some off-and-on precipitation for the rest of Monday.

“We will see occasional showers rolling through,” said KSL Meteorologist Kristen Van Dyke

She added this rain and snow pattern will continue into Tuesday as temperatures climb out of the forties.

“By Wednesday, we start to dry things out, with highs returning to the 50s, but then, more rain returning by Thursday.”

Dry ground and sunny skies are on their way from Thursday into the weekend. KSL Meteorologist Matt Johnson‘s forecast shows a steady climb into warmer territory. However, he added the rain and snow showers will come back on Sunday — in time for Easter.

“Friday and Saturday both with highs in the upper 50s. Then, 61 [degrees] for Easter Sunday with a slight chance of some showers.”

Rain and snow made for lots of car crashes Monday

Utah Highway Patrol reported 150 crashes since Sunday morning — with most of them happening along the Wasatch Front. Troopers say these crashes are happening because people are driving too fast.

“Whatever speed we can control our vehicle is the proper speed,” said Sgt. Chris Bishop. “Anything above that is too fast for our conditions. That’s what we saw yesterday, a ton of people losing control.”

Some of these crashes include rollovers, but no injuries have been reported.
