Suspect arrested after standoff with SLCPD and SWAT team

SALT LAKE CITY — On Thursday, 26-year-old Sheron Taylor-Shephard was arrested after a standoff with SWAT and Salt Lake City Police Department. The man barricaded himself inside of an apartment, according to a press release sent by the SLCPD.
Police were called to 1925 W. North Temple at 7:30 p.m. to with reports that a woman was threatened by Taylor-Shephard.
When police arrived at the scene, they woman told them that Taylor-Shephard had threatened to kill her after pulling out a knife.
After learning this information, police said they attempted to talk to Taylor-Shephard with no success.
From there, SLCPD SWAT and crisis negotiators were called and at 10:30 p.m. Taylor-Shephard was arrested and taken to Salt Lake County Metro Jail.
According to police, Taylor-Shepard was booked into jail for aggravated assault and violation of a protective order.
Police said Taylor-Shephard and the woman who he allegedly threatened knew each other from a past relationship.
No injuries were reported from the incident.
