OGDEN, Utah — Officials with Weber County Animal Services reported three confirmed cases of canine parvovirus at their animal facility on Monday.

On Facebook, the agency asked residents to pick up their dogs if they happened to be with Weber County Animal Services.

The agency also said it would not be able to complete adoptions for dogs at their facility until April 10.

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, parvo is a virus that “attacks white blood cells and the gastrointestinal tract of dogs,” and other animals including coyotes, wolves and foxes.

The AVMA also said puppies between 6 and 20 weeks of age are at greater risk, as are dogs that have not been vaccinated against canine parvovirus.
