SALT LAKE CITY — Every artist has a creative process and inspirations unique to them. Kazy Lambist, a French electronic musician shared a look into his process before his Metro Music Hall show in early March.

Arthur Dubreucq, also known as Kazy Lambist, is currently touring with Kid Francescoli.

Dubreucq said that he found inspiration for his forthcoming album, “Moda,” in the places he visited. According to Emerged Agency, the project had been nearly six years in the making.

Kazy Lambist’s second album releases in June, per a press release. However, an official date is not available at the time of writing.

The album was named after a neighborhood in Istanbul, Turkey

“[It is] a neighborhood from musicians. It’s a very creative little neighborhood in Istanbul and I spent a lot of time there,” said Dubreucq.

Inspired by the creatives who live there, he recorded some songs.

“Then I also stayed in Italy for two years during the time of the composition of the album,” said Dubreucq.

During that time, he exposed himself to different types of music.

Initially, the French musician said that he didn’t have a plan for the album.

“I was making songs and then I found a way to put them all together,” said Dubreucq.

Kazy Lambist’s inspirations

Dubreucq said that he draws a lot of inspiration from the French electronic music of the 1990s and early 2000s. Additionally, he referenced Daft Punk’s older music, Sébastien Tellier and a style known as French touch.

French touch is another name for French house music, per MasterClass. It combines disco, funk, and house music.

Additionally, Dubreucq said he has been involved in many styles of music.

“I went through a lot of different things. I played in a jazz band at some point. I was listening to rock. I was listening to hip-hop,” said Dubreucq.

The artist’s beginnings

When asked what advice he would give those who are just getting started, he recommended pursuing what you feel connected to.

When he was just starting out, Dubreucq shared his music on Soundcloud. His friends encouraged him to share one of his songs with a local radio station, which they all liked.

“I called the radio… and I said ‘Yeah my friends tell me that my song could be on your radio.’ And they told me that’s not how it works,” said Dubreucq.

Then, he submitted the song to the station through email. According to Dubreucq, the station started to play it every day.

“It’s the only one I applied to and they said yes,” said Dubreucq.

Nowadays, the musician’s Spotify profile receives more than one million streams each month.
