MOUNTAIN GREEN, Utah — A recreational outing turned into a water rescue operation for Mountain Green Fire District after an individual driving a 4-wheeler attempted to cross a shallow creek. The rapid current created by snowmelt swept the driver approximately 200 feet downstream.

After stopping in the middle of the stream, Mountain Green Fire Protection District said the driver called for assistance. The driver was uncertain of how deep the water was and their vehicle’s stability. Mountain Green Fire District and additional units from Weber Fire District and Riverdale Fire Department quickly responded to the scene.

After the arrival of emergency crews, authorities say water rescue technicians successfully assisted the stranded individual to shore by using a rope. There were no reported injuries.

Roy City Fire & Rescue and Morgan County Fire & EMS also stood ready if crews needed help. Luckily, on-scene crews had control of the situation and didn’t require additional help. Calls to Roy and Morgan County were later canceled.

The collaborative efforts of all responding agencies and the timely response from dispatch services ensured a positive outcome in what could have been a more dangerous situation.
