SALT LAKE CITY — Natalie Cline, a Utah State School Board Member, has lost the bid for reelection at the GOP Salt Lake County Convention.

Cline only received 36% of the vote against her opponent, Amanda Bollinger, who had already secured a place on the ballot through signature gathering. However, Bollinger will now be the sole Republican candidate in District 9.

This follows recent controversy surrounding Cline, including a censure by the school board and many calls for her resignation over a controversial social media post of her questioning the gender of a high school basketball player.

Governor Spencer Cox also signed a resolution to censure Cline, with bipartisan support from lawmakers voicing disapproval of her conduct. Some lawmakers even advocated for Cline’s impeachment.
