WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a letter to congressional Democrats,  President Joe Biden has remained resistant to calls for him to drop out of the 2024 election. He also called for the party drama to end.

The drama within the Democratic party began after his poor performance at the 2024 CNN Presidential Debate. Since the debate, President Biden has faced scrutiny over his age and mental performance. Some Democrats, including representatives from several states, have urged him to drop out of the election race.

According to the Associated Press, the president’s two-page letter said that discussion over his performance has lasted for over a week. He wrote that it is time to move on from the topic.

The full letter was published online by The New York Times. President Biden wrote “The voters for the Democratic Party have voted. They have chosen me to be the nominee of the party.”

President Biden questioned the message that dropping out would send to voters.

“Do we now just say this process didn’t matter? That the voters don’t have a say?” wrote the president. “I decline to do that.”

In the letter, President Biden remained confident that he could beat his opponent Former President Donald Trump in November’s election.

Who would take Biden’s place in the 2024 election?

While Presdident Biden remains strong in his commitment to finish his campaign, some Democrats believe that Vice President Kamala Harris could take his place.

NBC reported that some polls show Vice President Harris is a more popular choice. They reflected that she has the potential to beat Trump if Biden were to pass the torch to her.

However, nobody can take President Biden’s place unless he changes his mind.
