1 dead, 1 hospitalized after U-haul collision in West Jordan overnight

WEST JORDAN – One person has died and another person suffered critical injuries early Monday after a crash involving a U-haul box truck, according to West Jordan police.
Sgt. Kendall Holt with the West Jordan Police Department said the crash occurred just after midnight near 7800 South and 4800 West. A 911 caller reported the U-Haul and a Ford pickup truck had collided, he said.
The driver of the U-haul succumbed to their injuries at the scene, Holt said. The Ford driver was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but as of 5 a.m. Monday, the driver had stabilized. There were no other occupants inside the two trucks.
“It looks like, from what we’ve gathered from witnesses here on scene, that we may just have a traffic signal violation,” Holt said.
Investigators didn’t find any signs showing that either driver was impaired.
The name of the driver who died was not immediately released.
