SALT LAKE CITY — New developments have been announced for The Point redevelopment project, which will renovate the old prison site in Draper into a new community.
This project plans to bring housing, green space and new businesses to the growing section of southern Salt Lake County.
An entertainment complex has been approved as the first project in the area.
Lowry Snow, Point of the Mountain State land Authority co-chair said it will host various events and they are excited for the project to move forward.
Snow said the flexible design allows for hosting live music, community and sporting events.
“Perhaps the Utah high schools or athletic associations will look at it to host some championship or semi championship basketball games,” he said.
According to Snow, the venue can seat 5,000 to 7,000 people and is located close to businesses and the promenade making it convenient to get to.
“It’s going to be a great place for families to come, not only to enjoy the entertainment or the event, but also to take advantage of the offerings that’s going to be available at the promenade,” Snow said.
Snow mentioned outdoor restaurants and a great atmosphere.
“It’s going to be really something for our state,” Snow said.
