When do Utah ski resorts close for the 2025 season?

SALT LAKE CITY— As temperatures warm and mountain snow slowly recedes, Utah ski resorts are beginning to wind down their seasons. Several areas have already announced tentative closing dates, which could change depending on conditions.
It should be noted that Utah ski resorts may change their closing dates due to weather conditions. Reference individual resort websites for updates.
Due to “limited snow conditions,” Nordic Valley closed on Mar. 23. According to the resort website, the Eden resort received 90 inches of snow this season.
Utah ski resorts closing in April
Although Cherry Peak isn’t slated to officially close until April 6, the resort hosted a closing day party on March 29. An Instagram post recapped the festivities, which consisted of pond skimming and bison burgers.

Pond skimming is a popular spring skiing activity, presented at several Utah ski resorts. As skiers and snowboarders barrel toward a pond, their goal is to travel across the water. Often, resorts build a temporary pond in the snowy terrain.
According to Cherry Peak’s website, the resort received 183 inches of snow this season. The website said the resort was closed on Mar. 24 – 27, citing temperatures that were too high. Then, the resort operated on Mar. 28 and 29.

Beaver Mountain, Eagle Point, and Sundance ski resorts also plan to close on April 6.

Snowbasin’s website currently lists its projected closing date as April 13. The resort plans to send the season off with a “Basin Bash,” a 1980s-themed party complete with live music, food, and a costume contest at Earl’s Lodge.
On April 20, Alta Ski Area will conclude its 87th season.
“Our closing weekend is typically an all-you-can-eat buffet of sunny groomers, slush bumps, goggle tans, glitter, and hot dogs,” read the Alta website.
Alta is reminding guests that parking reservations will be required until 1 p.m. on closing day. Parking is prohibited before 7:30 a.m. The resort is urging visitors to carpool, as the UTA seasonal ski bus service ends on Apr. 12.

Deer Valley also plans to end winter operations on April 20. The resort has not announced any events to commemorate the closing day.

One day after Deer Valley and Alta close, Park City Mountain Resort will conclude its season.
The 2024/25 season had a tumultuous start for PCMR. Low early-season snow totals impacted terrain openings at resorts across the state, including Park City Mountain. Then, the Dec. 2024 ski patrol strike drew criticism toward Vail Resorts for alleged unfair labor practices, as long lift lines and slim terrain options impacted resort operations and angered skiers.
After patrollers reached a contract agreement with Vail and more snow accumulated, the season appeared to turn around. An Instagram post from PCMR invited guests to participate in the mountain’s pond skim on April 12.
Registration for the event opened on March 29. The resort’s post said prizes will be awarded for best skim, splash, and costume.
Some Utah ski resorts hope to spin lifts until May
Despite warming temperatures, some Utah ski resorts plan to remain open until May.
Both Big Cottonwood Canyon resorts plan to remain open into the fifth month of 2025.
Solitude is planning to close on May 11, sending the season off with a retro-themed party. The day will begin with donuts at the Moonbeam Lodge. At 11 a.m., a DJ will begin playing live music, per the website.
In the evening, the resort will offer discounted draft beers and karaoke. Parking will be free all day.
Brighton plans to close on May 18. The resort, which sits just above Solitude, has yet to reveal if it has any closing day plans.
Snowbird plans to remain open until Memorial Day, which is May 26. However, the resort website says weekday operations will cease on Monday, May 12. From then, lifts will only operate on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

“Lifts, terrain, and events schedule will become available closer to the end of the season,” read a pop-up on Snowbird’s events page, signaling that closing-day festivities may be held.
Woodward Park City and Powder Mountain have yet to announce season closure dates. Furthermore, Ski Utah reported that Brian Head plans to remain open until May 4, however, the resort’s website and social media profiles do not give any closing dates.
