Toxic algal bloom off California coast is killing marine life

SALT LAKE CITY — When unprovoked sea lions began attacking humans in the waters off of Southern California in early April, experts said the animals had been poisoned by a toxic algal bloom.

Now there’s a new twist to the story.

ABC News reports that the bloom growing in the Pacific Ocean is now hundreds of miles long and is killing sea life, including dolphins.

Jeff Caplan’s Afternoon News spoke to ABC News Correspondent Alex Stone about this issue.
