Suspect arrested in Taylorsville backyard burglary after news report

TAYLORSVILLE — After a backyard burglary left a family feeling scared and vulnerable in Taylorsville, police announced Tuesday an arrest was made in the case.
Raymond Don Keith, age 37, was arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary of a dwelling, failure to stop or respond at command of police, theft, criminal mischief, and reckless driving.
The Taylorsville Police Department said it received multiple tips about a man who was caught on surveillance footage stealing equipment from a backyard in Taylorsville. Police cited reporting by KSL TV that was published days after the incident and prompted folks to call with information.
TVPD said thanks to the tips it received, officers were able to locate the man’s truck, which was also caught on surveillance footage. It was found at a shopping center in West Jordan, but the man quickly began to flee.
“With the help of the Utah Department of Public Safety’s helicopter, the vehicle was located again in a neighborhood in Magna,” TVPD said.
The man tried to run again on foot, but officers caught up to him and took him into custody.
