SALT LAKE CITY — A motorcyclist was killed in Duchesne County after hitting a deer overnight and being hit by a passing car, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
Lt. Cam Roden with UHP said the motorcyclist hit the deer on state Route 35 at milepost 30, as they traveled east. The motorcycle landed facing west, causing another oncoming vehicle to see the headlights facing them.
The driver believed the motorcyclist was oncoming traffic veering into the left lane, and veered to try and avoid a head-on collision. In doing so, the car ran over the motorcyclist who was lying in the road. The motorcyclist died at the scene.
Roden didn’t specify the time of the crash, but said it happened in the middle of the night sometime between Thursday night and Friday morning.
The driver reported the crash after pulling over, and realizing the motorcyclist had been hit, Roden said.
The victim’s name was not immediately released.
