MILLCREEK — A woman was arrested Monday after police say she chased down a man she believed had cut her off, then threatened him with a knife while stabbing his car.

Bridget Renee Hood, 36, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault, child abuse and criminal mischief. Each suggested potential charge comes with a road rage penalty enhancement if convicted.

Monday afternoon, in the area of 4700 South and Highland Drive, a man told police he was on his way to work when he noticed he was being followed by another driver who was “waving at him to pull over.” After both vehicles pulled over, Hood got out of her car and “confronted (the man) with a pocket knife in her hand as she was yelling that he had cut her off,” according to a police booking affidavit.

Hood continued to yell at the man while holding a knife and then attempted to puncture one of the man’s tires.

“But it bounced back, leaving no damage to the tire. She then stabbed the knife into the rear compartment of his vehicle, leaving a puncture mark. I observed the mark in the rear of the car. There was also blood spatter left behind by (Hood) when she injured herself while stabbing the car,” the arresting officer wrote in the affidavit.

The man took pictures of Hood’s license plate as she drove away. Unified police said they used those pictures to track down Hood at her home.

“(She) admitted to following the victim in her vehicle after he cut her off in his vehicle. She also advised her 7-year-old son was in the back of her vehicle while she was driving after and pursuing the victim in her vehicle and that her son saw her confront the victim while she was wielding the knife,” the affidavit states.
