Rice Eccles Stadium to transform into Utah’s largest yoga studio for fundraiser

SALT LAKE CITY — Rice Eccles Stadium is known for hosting college football games and large concerts, but on Sept. 13, it will transform into Utah’s largest yoga studio.
According to a press release the event, called Namastadium, will raise money for Yoga Forward. The organization is a Utah-based nonprofit that provides yoga access to underserved populations.
Per Yoga Forward, free classes have been presented to groups in correctional facilities, addiction recovery centers, schools and cancer survivor groups, among others.
This year marks the event’s third year. In the past, Namastadium has seen as many as 500 participants.

Yoga Forward said Namastadium is suited to those of all skillsets.
“This event is truly for everyone. Whether you’ve practiced yoga for years or have never set foot on a mat, you’re welcome,” wrote Yoga Forward in an event FAQ.

Instructors will offer guidance to help those of all skill levels feel comfortable. Their direction will include guidance on modifying positions.
“Namastadium is designed as a shared experience,” wrote the nonprofit.

Tickets are $7. Per Yoga Forward, check-in will begin at 9 a.m. at the Ken Garff Scholarship Club, which is at the south end of Rice Eccles Stadium. Advance registration is required to attend.
The class will begin at 10 a.m.
