PA man arrested, accused of making terroristic threats regarding Charlie Kirk shooting

SALT LAKE CITY — A 20-year-old Pennsylvania resident was arrested in Utah on Tuesday, on suspicion of making terroristic threats towards Utah Valley University in the wake of the shooting that killed Charlie Kirk.
According to a booking affidavit, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office was alerted by the FBI about a video that Blake Francis Rogers made.
In that video, Rogers told viewers he was going on an “odyssey” from Philadelphia to UVU, to fulfill a “lifelong duty of finally killing woke.” Rogers also said, “I hope by seeing this video, you all can understand what made me perform such actions, and can view me as the hero I know I am,” according to the affidavit.
The document states that investigators located the home where Rogers was staying at in Summit County, and that when they arrived, they learned that Rogers may have left.
The document then goes on to state that an attempt to locate bulletin was broadcast, telling officers to look out for Rogers, before it was found that Rogers was at the home in Summit County.
When detectives initially met with Rogers, he said that he knew why police were looking for him and that the video he posted was a joke, sent to between 12 and 15 people, according to the document. Rogers also claimed in the document that there was no action insinuated in the comments, but did understand why the FBI would deem his threat as credible.
Rogers was booked into the Summit County Jail on Tuesday in suspicion of a single charge of making a threat of terrorism, causing an emergency agency to act. That charge is a class B misdemeanor.
