Fire at Ogden dog food plant originated in an oven

OGDEN — Firefighters responded to a fire at a dog food factory in Ogden Thursday afternoon.
The fire took place near the 2900 block of Wall Avenue, according to the Ogden City Fire Department.
Dep. Chief Matthew Hess with the department said fire crews noticed the fire when they drove by at around 3 p.m. He said they saw “unusual smoke” coming from one of the factory’s stacks. The crew then spoke with a forklift operator at a factory, and he told them the smoke “wasn’t normal.”
The crew then contacted their managers before evacuating the building.
As they responded to the scene, fire crews realized a biscuit oven on the second floor was on fire.
At this time, firefighters are not sure of the extent of the fire, and the fire is not 100% out. However, Hess said the fire is “under control.”
