Salt Lake City may see some of the coldest temperatures of the season

SALT LAKE CITY — Northern Utah and the Salt Lake Valley may see some of the coldest temperatures of the season on Monday night.
Meteorologists say the temperatures are expected to drop even lower, with some areas of the valley going from 28 to 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Sam Webber said the closer to the Jordan River, the colder it will likely be.
“Temperatures, at least in Salt Lake Valley, widespread freezing or below freezing as we head into early Tuesday morning, with those lowest temperatures likely to be reached just before sunrise.”
Webber said sprinklers and hoses should be taken in by now to protect any sensitive plants before the freeze sets in.
“Sprinkler systems or any exterior hoses and water systems that are still running, it might be a good idea to get those prepped and ready for freezing or even sub-freezing temperatures that we’re expected to see tonight.”
Webber said this is just the start of the season, and now is the time to prepare homes and properties for colder weather to come.
