SALT LAKE CITY — Fans of “Stranger Things” get to experience the final episode of the show on the big screen, but only if they’re able to snatch some tickets before they sell out.

For Cinemark in West Jordan, Provo and Salt Lake City, seats were already nearly or completely sold out by Tuesday for the TV-MA rated show set to release its final episode on Dec. 31.

Cinemark’s Jordan Landing 24 and XD

On Dec. 31, this location had two showtimes available for “Stranger Things” fans.

The 9:30 p.m. showing was completely sold out by noon on Tuesday, while the 6 p.m. option on the same day only had five tickets left for wheelchair spaces and one wheelchair companion seat available.

West Jordan residents still had options to see the finale on Jan. 1, with five different showtimes available for fans; however, the seats available were scarce.

Cinemark Century Salt Lake 16 and XD

This Salt Lake theater experienced a similar situation as West Jordan’s location for Dec. 31, with a 6 p.m. showing having only four wheelchair spaces available and one wheelchair companion seat left to grab.

As for Jan. 1, four different showtimes were still available to “Stranger Things” fans; however, most were only available to those requiring a wheelchair or a wheelchair companion seat.

  • The noon option had four wheelchair companion seats left and four wheelchair spaces available.
  • The 3:15 p.m. option had three wheelchair companion seats left and four wheelchair spaces available.
  • The 6:30 p.m. option had two wheelchair companion seats left, four wheelchair spaces available and one “available seat” for sale.
  • The last showing at the Salt Lake theater was set for 9:45 p.m., with four wheelchair companion seats left and four wheelchair spaces available.

Cinemark Provo 16

A Cinemark theater in Provo had a 6 p.m. showing available on Dec. 31 with only four wheelchair space tickets left for “Stranger Things” fans to grab.

Out of the three cities, this Provo location had the most seats on hand for Jan. 1 with at least 163 seats available between five showtimes, differing between “available seats,” wheelchair spaces and wheelchair companion seats.

Other locations showing “Stranger Things” finale

Although appearing to be one of the most popular choices, Netflix announced the finale will be available to over 500 big-screen locations, not just Cinemark.

AMC was similar to Cinemark when it came to available seating options, with locations in the mix like AMC West Jordan 12, which only had four “wheelchair and companion” seats available during its 6 p.m. showing on Dec. 31.

AMC’s West Jordan 12 location had more seats available during its Jan. 1 showing of the “Stranger Things” finale; however, the seats were limited.

Megaplex will also be showing the finale at Jordan Commons, Thanksgiving Point and Legacy Crossing.

Netflix said the finale will run for two hours and five minutes, and the limited showings on the big screen will only be available on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

The streaming service also said the limited big-screen showings will start at the same time as the finale on Netflix, so those who miss out on the big-screen opportunity won’t miss out on the showing completely. It just won’t be on the big screen.
