Warm weather pushes World Cup ski events out of Utah this season

SALT LAKE CITY — The World Cup moguls and World Cup aerials competitions, which usually draw spectators to Deer Valley Ski Resort every winter, will move out of state for this season. The problem? It’s too warm.

“Due to unseasonably warm weather, both the moguls and aerials World Cup events at the Intermountain Health Freestyle International presented by Stifel at Deer Valley have been moved,” the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team announced on Tuesday.

Both competitions will move out east, where the winter has performed better for resorts. The team said Lake Placid would hold the aerials World Cup on Jan. 11-12, and New Hampshire’s Waterville Valley Resort would take moguls on Jan. 15-16.
