3 arrested after being charged with 1st degree felony child torture

SALT LAKE CITY — After a month-long investigation, three people were arrested Tuesday in Moab on charges of first-degree felony child torture.
Moab police reported the arrests shortly after receiving arrest warrants for 39-year-old Jeremiah James Perkins, 48-year-old Jennifer Perkins and 28-year-old Jonathan William Jarman from a judge.
The Department of Child and Family Services, medical professionals and the Moab Police Department worked together over the course of a month to investigate the three individuals.
“Literally the minute we received the arrest warrants for these suspects, we suited up, drove to their home and arrested them,” Moab Police Chief Lex Bell said. “Coincidentally, they were walking away from their home as they arrived, making it an even better scenario and safer for all involved.”
According to the press release, the 11-year-old victim had been removed from the home in October and relocated to live with a foster family. Police reported the suspects did not know where the boy was and that he was not in danger of additional abuse from the three suspects.
All three individuals are currently in the Grand County Jail with no bail.
