Business fire in West Jordan causes ‘significant damage’

WEST JORDAN — A fire burned in a business park in West Jordan Wednesday morning, drawing a response from several fire departments and seriously damaging a business.

The blaze was located in the area of 8800 South and Redwood Road. Fire crews said it started around 2:30 a.m.

Firefighters from South Jordan, West Jordan Midvale, Sandy and the Unified Fire Authority responded to put the fire out. Smoke and flames had largely subsided by 6 a.m.

West Jordan Battalion Chief Travis Ball said the fire was difficult to fight, but crews were able to get it under control in about an hour. He said firefighters contained the flames to one business, preventing the fire from spreading through the whole building.

Ball said the business sustained “significant” damage.

Investigators were looking into the cause of the fire.
