“Nate is a Juan Diego alumni, well known and highly regarded figure at the high school. Nate runs the student government, one of the more popular student programs at the school. He knows every student by name and makes them feel seen and heard. Nate always takes time to answer questions, address concerns or give guidance. On top of his day to day routine, he’s also the JV Lacrosse Coach and is a tremendous help with building both the Juan Diego Youth and Juan Diego High School Lacrosse programs. He is the backbone of the school and we are lucky to have such an amazing asset to lead our students!”

Mr. Tack represents the very best of what education should be. He does far more than teach – he mentors, challenges, and inspires students to grow as young men and women, as well as true leaders. His approach to education emphasizes character, accountability, resilience, and respect for others, lessons that extend far beyond academics and stay with students long after they leave his classroom or office.

My boys consistently describe Mr. Tack as someone who truly sees them, believes in them, and pushes them to become the best version of themselves. He holds all students to high standards while creating an environment built on trust, encouragement, and genuine care. Whether supporting students academically, guiding them through challenges, or mentoring them through extracurricular activities, his commitment to their growth is unwavering.

Mr. Tack also plays a tremendous role in the Juan Diego boys lacrosse program, where my boys play, and with his leadership, and that of his brother Brad who is our Head Coach, has helped shape one of the most respected programs in the state. The culture of brotherhood, accountability, and teamwork within the program reflects the values Mr. Tack instills in students every day. His leadership helps young men learn that success is not just about winning games, but about discipline, character, and supporting one another.

That culture was on full display just last week when Juan Diego’s boys lacrosse team – a 4A program – defeated the reigning 6A State Champions on their home field in an unforgettable overtime victory. It was widely recognized as one of the biggest upsets in Utah lacrosse in recent years. Moments like that do not happen by accident; they are the result of the culture, leadership, and belief that educators like Mr. Tack help cultivate in their students.

What makes Mr. Tack especially deserving of this recognition is the lasting impact he has on the lives of the students he serves. He is the kind of educator who shapes not only academic success but personal character – helping students become confident leaders, responsible teammates, and compassionate members of their community.

For his dedication, mentorship, and the powerful influence he has on the students and culture of Juan Diego Catholic High School, Nathan Tack is truly deserving of this Teacher of the Month recognition.”

“My name is Paul De La Fuente and I am a freshman at Juan Diego. Mr.Tack works at my high school. He is the dean of freshman and helps with the student body. He also teaches freshman theology and is a great teacher. Mr.Tack is more than this, he goes above and beyond helping the lacrosse team and other students off campus. He even helps students that don’t go to Juan Diego anymore. Mr.Tack has made my freshman year enjoyable and easy. Whenever I had a problem with something he would fix it immediately and help me. He is a key figure in Juan Diego and if he were to leave Juan Diego the school would suffer greatly in many ways.”
