Lockdown lifted after police find ‘no credible threat’ at Provo High School

PROVO — Provo High School was put on lockdown Monday morning after police said they were investigating a suspicious call. The lockdown was lifted just before 10 a.m.

A spokesperson for the Provo School District said Provo Police determined there was no credible threat to the school.

School schedule, buses, and afterschool programs would continue as normal, the spokesperson said. They also told parents that they could excuse their children from school for the day if they preferred.

According to police, a caller reported that they were at the school and threatened to kill others and themselves. Provo Police Officers and the Provo High School Resource Officer secured the building and conducted a thorough search of the school.

Police said no safety threats were found and no other buildings were impacted.

“While it appears at this time to have been a hoax, officers are continuing their investigation into the call,” said Janna-Lee Howard, Provo Police Department Public Information Officer.
