SALT LAKE CITY — A Crown Burgers located in Sandy was forced to close after a fire erupted in the building Thursday morning.
Sandy City Fire Department Chief Ryan McConaghie said the fire was put out after it took over a space between the attic above the kitchen and the roof around 5:27 a.m.
The building, located at 9604 S. State Street., had significant smoke damage throughout the kitchen and lobby area, according to McConaghie.
“Two of the HVAC units on the roof were damaged and on fire and several holes were cut during the fire,” McConaghie said.
The fire caused a closure of the building that would last until cleaning and renovation could take place, McConaghie said.
Firefighters from Sandy City Fire Department, South Jordan Fire Department, United Fire Authority and Draper City Fire Department responded to the scene.
