4.2 magnitude earthquake reported near east entrance to Yellowstone

WYOMING — A 4.2 magnitude earthquake was registered Wednesday near Yellowstone National Park.
The University of Utah Seismograph Stations registered the epicenter of the 4.2 magnitude quake (the point within the Earth where the earthquake originated) as 23 miles northeast of the east entrance of Yellowstone.
There were no reports of injury or damage.
Since 1962, five earthquakes of a 3.0 magnitude or greater have occurred within 16 miles of the epicenter of Wednesday’s earthquake, according to the University of Utah. The largest of these events was a 4.2 magnitude earthquake on March 25, 2008.
The U of U Seismograph Stations encourages anyone who felt the earthquake to fill out a survey form on the U.S. Geological Survey website.
