A plane crashed into a townhouse in Roy killing the 64-year-old pilot

ROY, Utah – A 64-year-old man has died after the plane he was piloting crashed into a townhouse in Roy then exploded.
Investigators say the man, who was piloting a small Cessna and was the only person on board, took off from SkyPark Airport in Bountiful around 3:00p.m. Wednesday on his way to Ogden-Hinckley Airport.
But instead of landing at 3:11 p.m. as scheduled, the left wing of his plane hit the roof of a townhouse at 1825 W. 5050 South at that exact time.
The plane then fell into a parking lot and burst into flames.
Neighbor Alex Guerrero was home at the time.
“I was, like, lay down in my bed and all the house shake [sic]. Then I saw people running outside…and the plane was on fire,” Guerrero said.
No one was at home at the time, but two townhomes were damaged from the crash and fire.
Investigators do not know what caused the crash, though many neighbors saw the plane flying at an angle before the accident.
The townhouses are about half a mile away from the Ogden-Hinckley Airport runway.
